Neighborhood Orange Bike

Events and Things to do!

Neighborho0d Orange Bike:

Sooooo...

What is the Neighborhood orange bike program?

Neighborhood Orange bike was a month-long bike program for North Minneapolis and East St.Paul residents. The program required that you ride your program bike twice a week and attend six community biking events, if you completed the program then you would receive a free bike.

How did the program work?

The program started with an hour-long orientation where you learned bike rules, program rules, and received our program bike(the orange Nice Ride bikes) along with other safety equipment for riding. We met once a week at North Pointe in North Minneapolis to bike and then we biked to locations like The Walker Art Center, Venture North, etc. Each Community ride took about an hour. For the individual rides, you planned your own schedule and didn't need to show proof. We received a specific date on when we had to have our 6 rides complete when we would return the bikes and receive new ones if we made it through the program.

How did I hear about the program?

"I was cruising down the street in my 64" and then I heard an ad on KMOJ 89.9 and the rest was history. :-)

Would I recommend this program?

Yes, This program was well worth it! Earning a free bike was a great incentive and I was happy to earn something for exercising(which was becoming a chore)!

What kind of bike did you get?

One that would have been over $350(which is a lot to a young, ambitious and broke college student).

Anyway doe...

Let me show you my new baby, which I've named Huckleberry(inspired by the cartoon character)!

Helpful Hints?

Go to as many community events as you can because they may or may not give prizes to those who go above and beyond the required number of community events!

*I hope to see you biking next Summer!

Peace and R8tings,

MB
