Five Things I Learned in Acting Class.
I am on a lifelong journey of storytelling and I’m sharing it with you! With acting as the art of storytelling at the moment that I’m using I’ve chosen to take classes to perfect my craft and to continue learning.
Below is a clip from one of my classes where we recreated a scene from Killing Eve.
5 Things I learned while recreating and executing this scene:
We should have adjusted our setup or maybe I could have adjusted my body. In a normal filming atmosphere the director of photography would have gotten close ups of my face and my partners face as we had the conversation but because he didn’t I should have found a way to either adjust my body or my surrounding(the table).
I needed to give the scene some layers. Although the scene definitely causes for me to be focused on my partner because in this scene she is a psycho killer who finds a way to get into my house and just pops up at my dinner table, I still need to find a way to be focused on her but not staring her down.
Vocal inflection could use a little work. This could also add layers but when you’re doing these scenes, they sound different in your head sometimes than they come out. I think you should be able to here the nervousness, confidence or whatever feeling I have in my voice.
It’s real life, yes, but with pizzaz. I have to remember that, yes, my acting needs to be real but add a little spunk on the realness because it is TV. For instance, I’d say no in real life without shaking my head no but in a scene like this a slow shaking of my head when I say no adds just a tad bit of drama which could help the scene.
Great Job. Because I’m learning everyday so I’m doing just fine. Eveytime I’m in front of the camera, I just need to implement the lessons but give yourself grace and time!
